Born in Haifa, Palestine, May Abboud holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of George Washington in Washington D.C. . Slowly along her career, she shifts into art, and attends numerous workshops in Ceramics and painting and takes part in Artist Residencies in France, Hungary and the US. She has participated in several group shows in Lebanon and in France.
In her work, she explores the use of textures on sculptures. She uses a variety of fabrics from netting to imprint texture onto the clay which leads to an amazing richness of surface quality. She then enhances the surface with a subtle color of oxides.
