A Tribute to Giacometti
Alberto Giacometti's sculptures are so distinctive that no subsequent artist can be said to sculpt "like" him . Nevertheless, having spent fourty years of his life in his brother's shadow as the "other Giacometti", Diego would be later highly respected and regarded as an independent artist.
These tables are a tribute to the agelessness and universality of his work . They are tough and geometric, yet they also stretch and pull and sail through space. The armature and imagery is rustic, yet these objects are functional, and retain their identity as sculptures.
